Elmbridge

No Overall Control
Elected in Thirds

As expected, Elmbridge Borough Council has remained in No Overall Control following elections for one third of the Council.

Although we expect the Liberal Democrats and Residents’ Associations to remain in coalition control, there will be political change at Elmbridge as a new Leader of the Council will be appointed and the now former Cabinet Member for Planning Karen Randolph has also stepped down as a councillor.

The Liberal Democrats won nine of the 16 seats up for grabs, gaining six seats, and are now the largest party on the authority, whereas the Conservatives and Residents’ Associations lost four and two seats respectively.

The Conservatives, who were the largest party before the elections now sit in third place.

The political composition of the Council is as follows:

  • Liberal Democrat: 19
  • Residents’ Association: 17
  • Conservative: 12

Elmbridge Borough Council will hold its AGM on Wednesday, 17th May.
