Labour have retained control of Reading Borough Council. 

The 2023 Local Elections saw elections take place in all 16 wards, with 17 councillors elected due to a vacancy in Park ward.

Labour gained one seat in the Caversham Heights ward which was defended by incumbent Conservative councillor Paul Carnell.

The results of the 2023 Local Elections is as follows:

  • Labour: 11 (+1)
  • Green: 3
  • Conservative: 2 (-1)
  • Liberal Democrat: 1

This means that the composition of Reading Borough Council is:

  • Labour: 32
  • Green: 7
  • Conservative: 5
  • Liberal Democrat: 3
  • Independents and Others: 1

The AGM will take place on 24th May.
