Waverley
Despite gains by the Lib Dems, Waverley Borough Council remains in No Overall Control following all out elections.
Changes to ward boundaries saw the number of seats in Waverley reduced by seven to 50 ahead of the election, meaning 26 seats were needed for a majority and full control of the council.
Although the Lib Dems increased their representation to 22 councillors, they fell short of a majority. Meanwhile, the Conservatives saw their share of the seats drop from 23 in 2019 to just ten – with opposition leader Stephen Mulliner the highest-profile casualty.
The Farnham Residents retained all the gains they made in 2019, winning 13 of the available 16 borough council seats in the Farnham area.
Two independents retained their seats, as did the Labour Party, while the Green Party held on to one seat.
The political composition of the council is as follows:
- Liberal Democrats 22
- Farnham Residents 13
- Conservatives 10
- Labour 2
- Independent 2
- Green Party 1
With no party holding a majority, it is likely that the previous Lib Dem/Farnham Residents partnership, which had support from Labour and the Greens, will continue.
Annual Council will take place on 23rd May.
