Windsor and Maidenhead
Following all-out elections, the Conservatives lost control of Windsor and Maidenhead for the first time in 16 years, with the Liberal Democrats winning an unexpected overall majority on the Council.
The result saw both the former Leader of the Council Andrew Johnson and Deputy Leader of the Council Samantha Rayner lose their seats.
Another notable result saw Phil Haseler, who had held the Portfolio for Planning, Parking, Highways & Transport also lost his seat in Cox Green ward.
The results saw the Liberal Democrats gain 13 seats and the Conservatives lose 16, giving a political composition of the Council is as follows:
- Liberal Democrats: 22
- Conservatives: 7
- the Borough First Independents: 7
- West Windsor Residents Association: 2
- Old Windsor Residents Association: 2
- National Flood Prevention Party: 1
Whilst it was always going to be a difficult result for the Conservatives in Windsor and Maidenhead, the Liberal Democrats have performed better than expected by securing a majority.
Windsor and Maidenhead will hold its AGM on Tuesday 23 May.
